 The Steel Pier is an amusement park built on a boardwalk over the ocean. It’s called Steel Pier because of its steel foundation. Once described as “An Amusement City at Sea”, “A Vacation in Itself” as well as “Showplace of the Nation”, the Pier was an early cultural center in Atlantic City.
Steel Pier is located across from the Taj Mahal on the Boardwalk at Virginia Ave. in Atlantic City.
This amusement park was originally opened in 1898, Steel Pier quickly became known for showcasing the world's top entertainers. But eventually was the pier closed in 1976. In 1993 the Catanoso brothers, Anthony, Charles, William and Joseph along with their partners Taft Johnson and Edward Olwell restored the Steel Pier. Today, Steel Pier has 24 rides, games and prize wheels, a food court and free admission. The pier and amusement park is now owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts, after the 1982 fire.

The pier is a vibrant amusement park with plenty of traditional rides including a ferris wheel, merry-go-round, bumper cars, a roller coaster, double decker carousel, go karts, and more. You can also enjoy carnival games and food, helicopter rides, and entertainment.
This twenty-acre theme park is literally a walk through classic children’s literature. Timeless stories and nursery rhymes are brought to life through more than 50 attractions and family rides.
