The ocean. Exciting nightlife. Fine dining. Boardwalk. Fun attractions. Water sports. Even shopping. That’s what comes to mind when you think of Atlantic City. But you would be very surprised to learn that besides all the heady excitement and fun activities you can also experience some laid back amusements like wandering through museums located here. Visiting a museum and enjoying the arts and artifacts is a great way to experience this beautiful destination. All year round the city has some exciting stuff put up to make visitors turn back again and again to come relish all that gets put up on display here. So when you get tired by the usual offerings you could explore the museums here that offer a completely different side to the amusements in store. Its really great fun to see cool stuff for as long as you want!

The Atlantic City Historical Museum is one such place to check out. It preserves and showcases Atlantic City’s long and exciting history as a unique seaside resort town known for such landmarks as the famous Boardwalk and more. It’s quite accessible and the many evocative artifacts, along with a great video about the history of Atlantic City will keep you enthralled. You might do this even as you take a stroll up the boardwalk and take in the museum. The place features numerous exhibits chronicling the city’s history. Besides the historical posters, photographs, souvenirs, and assorted artifacts from the city’s past, you’ll also find a good collection of Miss America pageant memorabilia. You will also be able to learn how the resort community has changed over time - the ways in which boardwalk activities have evolved and well as the ways in which Atlantic City boardwalk attractions have changed over time. The permanent exhibition at the Atlantic City Historical Museum is centered on the theme of “Atlantic City, Playground of the Nation.” This exhibit focuses on memorabilia celebrating Atlantic City boardwalk activities.

Just a brief drive from Atlantic City will bring you to The Noyes Museum of Art that is also well worth a visit. Set amidst a peaceful setting, The Noyes Museum of Art lays claim to being southern New Jersey’s only fine arts museum. It is well known for housing some great American art from the 19 th century to the present, with a particular focus on folk art and crafts. The permanent collection of paintings, sculptures and other art objects at The Noyes numbers well over 1,300 items. Highlights of The Noyes Museum of Art include a collection of more than 350 wooden decoys and a number of paintings by Fred W. Noyes, Jr., the artist/entrepreneur who co-founded The Noyes art museum in 1983. The Noyes Museum of Art also plays host to temporary exhibitions, lectures, art classes, educational programs, an annual craft fair and other special events. Families with children will enjoy hands-on activities at the Creation Station. The Noyes Museum of Art is located between Smithville and Absecon, beside a lake near the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. Visitors to The Noyes will appreciate the natural lighting provided by the museum’s skylights, which protect art displays from direct sunlight.

But if you happen to be a real kid at heart on vacation then surely the unique Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum will overcome you. The museum sits directly on the Boardwalk and appears like it’s been torn in half by a giant earth shaped wrecking ball. Among the museums treasures you will find a lock of George Washington’s hair, a 27 room miniature wood carved castle, and a scale model of the Santa Maria that was created with over 27,000 matchsticks. You will be stunned and amazed at all of the treasures at the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum here at Atlantic City. Its sure a great diversion from your regular sightseeing pleasures to visit the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum with its over 400 exhibits in 13 themed galleries that can be easily done in a whole afternoon. You can even go online to find out more about the history of Robert Ripley and the Museum.

You will soon discover that Atlantic City that has remained centered on its Boardwalk, casinos and other exciting amusements, also has some out-of- the-way museums that make for a wonderful change and are a great attraction for visitors of all ages. Atlantic City provides a rare mix of beach and carnival atmosphere by the Boardwalk along with conservative sightseeing besides the famed gaming neighborhoods that attracts a steady stream of visitors. The striking array of distinct arty collections here will truly impress you and you end up appreciating the thematic changes in the museums that keep drawing visitors all the time. While you check out the current attractions in the museums it makes perfect sense to log on to atlantic-cityhotels site and get confirmed reservations for a comfortable stay when you plan to be here.

Just as the debates are seeing closure and the voting machines are being put in place with campaign signs out, New Jersey gets ready to vote. Alongside in Atlantic City the resurgence of the music scene has a lot of locals and visitors hovering for front seats for the shows that are about to happen here. Whatever happens on Election Day one thing is for sure, Atlantic City is safely re-positioned as an entertainment capital that now rivals Vegas and New York. Notwithstanding the casino layoffs, the pendulum keeps swinging back to musical soirées. Even at casinos, live music is in vogue. Besides there are musical shows aplenty to see us through the season, who-so- ever wins the Presidential race.

There has been a big shift on the music scene ever since the Borgata opened up. It’s true, entertainment has never been the same again in Atlantic City. It’s a place that showcases the best music performances even as you get entertained by some of the most renowned talent around the world. The Music Box at the Borgata houses an intimate audience in its theater of a thousand seats with performances that include big names from every musical genre.

Such shows are always on the top of my list whenever I can manage to visit Atlantic City. Uncannily some of my favorite singers are always on the events list here. But it’s not just me. Atlantic City acts as a magnet to attract the crowd owing to its top grade shows. There really aren’t that many places south of New York City that have as much variety in its show offerings as Atlantic City does. The big city events not only electrify the minds of the tourists but even participants enjoy the exhilaration of the events. No wonder shows get conducted here all year round.

Vacations especially appear to be a good time to take a break from routine to enjoy some great musical shows. If you are my kind and are looking for a break from all the noise of the slot machines and the crowds, then an entertaining evening of great music is just the thing. For that old time feeling a Kenny G evening or even Madonna’s numbers could put you in tranquil mood in these recessive times. Located barely hours from New York and only minutes away from Philadelphia, Atlantic City is just an easy drive away. Always Turned On with seasonal events and activities, the city welcomes everyone warmly with its plethora of musical activities that makes it a “must visit” destination. It’s my trusted escape each time I want to flee off to unwind.

A mere glance at the events calendar make me excited about the coming holidays. You have A Christmas Carol all set for December 12 at Mayo Center. Also this November AC DC, Amy Grant, B.B. King and the immensely enjoyable Cheetah Girls are all set to fire up fans with their typical music. So also the Dropkick Murphy’s are going to create a splash of their own with their brand of music. The oldies are in for their own kind of delight with Duran Duran and Kenny G who would be enthralling audiences in December. But what would be fascinating music lovers in the Northeast area would be Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour that’s going to have the audiences gasping at the 50 plus singers vocal chords. November 22 will see the feisty singer at Boardwalk Hall making waves besides the Atlantic.

Now I suppose that’s a great big enough choice for all sorts of music lovers. All you need to do is check on the internet for details and plan your trip to Atlantic City for that much needed rest and relaxation. As the music of the city soars above the crescendo of the ocean close by remember to click on to atlantic-cityhotels site to catch up with the much needed quietude and pleasure you have been wanting for so long, even as you catch up with musical splendors of Atlantic City.

Despite the early winter that’s trying to set in, the days are rather pleasant with warm spells still continuing right into November. Yes there certainly is a chill even in the bright sunshine over cerulean blue skies but this is making for some fascinating Fall weather in New Jersey. Atlantic City in New Jersey is now even better than before. Well known for its casino gaming and world-class entertainment, the nightlife here is scintillatingly wild. But if you thought this is all that Atlantic City has to offer you might be quite mistaken. More and more people are discovering they don’t have to travel to better known cultural centers to enjoy the arts.

Atlantic City has grown into quite an arts hub with its flourishing arts community. The South Jersey Cultural Alliance has seen some dramatic growth in the arts since it emerged on the cultural scene. The arts here have become very important, and one of the most delightful experiences that you can have. The Atlantic City Art Center, the only exhibiting center in the US located on a municipal pier extending into the Atlantic Ocean, is dedicated to provide the Southern region of New Jersey with culturally diverse experiences through high quality exhibitions and arts programs. The Noyes Museum of Art too displays a growing collection of American fine and folk art, an exceptional presentation of vintage bird decoys, and outstanding special exhibitions that features famed artists.

Certainly not to be missed here is the Stockton Performing Arts Center that has since the past three decades made some marvelous performances ranging from musical theater to classical ballet to some of the best children’s theater you could find. Also the delightful Borgata Comedy Club puts up three comedy acts appearing back-to-back every night. If you time it right, you can see headliner performers making your trip more memorable. The Brownstone Puppet Theater is one of only 36 puppet theaters in the U.S. Its museum has a remarkable collection of puppets and puppet-theater paraphernalia from around the world.

Energized by the development of the arts scene especially with the opening of the wonderful theater opportunities, Atlantic City has transformed into an entertainment powerhouse that sustains the seasons throughout the year. The city is all set with signature events all through November and if you are planning to visit Atlantic City then here is news of some of the entertainment that’s about to be dished out here. A series of ongoing programs are scheduled that include various performances throughout November at the Richard Stockton Performing Arts Center. Besides this you have Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, Cape May Stage on Wednesday, November 5 - Saturday, November 22, 2008. Best of all is going to be the Sherlock Holmes Weekend at Cape May, Friday, November 7 - Sunday, November 9. Victorian Cape May is the backdrop for the perfect crime when you can join master sleuths Holmes and Watson to solve a mystery and earn valuable prizes, as they work on the fascinating case of the Music Box Murders. Get ready to pursue a murderer who sends eerie music boxes to his victims.

If you enjoy subtle pleasures then go to The Quiet Festival, at Ocean City, on Friday, November 14 - Sunday, November 16 for one of the most peaceful events of the season. The annual Quiet Festival offers a weekend of quiet activities, most of which take place at Ocean City’s Art Center Atrium. Free to the public, this event includes such silent activities as seashell listening, performances by mimes, silent movies, and a storyteller who performs Indian hand tales. There is also a “Pet Your Pet” pageant and a feather dropping competition. Other interesting happenings to take place here are the Native American Indian Presentation by “Quiet Thunder,” at Absecon Lighthouse, on Sunday, November 16, the Holiday Preview Weekend, at Cape May, on Friday, November 21 - Sunday, November 23. That’s quite a line up here in Atlantic City. So if you feel like cutting out the noise and heading for artistic pleasures book yourself through atlantic-cityhotels site to discover unknown facets of a city that’s always turned on.
